Abstract Background The potential contribution of vitamin D and its receptor (VDR) to bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in preterm neonates is still unknown. objective the study was test relationship between VDR Taq 1 Fok gene polymorphisms BPD neonates. were genotyped by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism ( PCR-RFLP ) analysis. Result No statistically significant differences genotypic distributions allele frequencies detected cases controls. Moreover, no risk association both development Homozygous mutant ff genotype least frequent among non-BPD groups (2.6%, 13.0% respectively) p = 0.1). same for CC frequency (10.5% 15.2%, respectively). However, significantly associated with severity BPD, as genotypes C +CT more severe (52.2%). Conclusion have role presence a may be form disease.
